Our catering team provide healthy and nutritious school meals on site. We strongly recommend them to you as this is an ideal place for your child to have a hot meal and to try new foods.
School meals cost £2.20 each per day. They must be ordered and paid for at least one week in advance, preferably by cheque to Essex County Council. The payment may be made weekly, half termly or termly. Any monies should be sent in a sealed envelope which is clearly marked with the amount enclosed and your child's name and class. This should be posted into the box marked ‘dinner money’ in the entrance area. Monday is the day to send in school meal payments.
If you would prefer children can bring a packed lunch to school. We ask that you provide healthy lunch that does not include nuts, crisps or sweets or chocolate. Please see the leaflet in ‘Policies’ that gives handy tips for school packed lunches.
Free School Meals (FSM)
If you are in receipt of any of the following, you may be entitled to free school meals.
- Income support
- Income based job seekers allowance
- Child Tax Credit (provided you're not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Pension Guarantee Credit
- Employment & Support Allowance, income related
- Support under part VI of the immigration & Asylum Act 1999
- Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit
If you receive Working Tax Credit, then you will not be entitled on the basis of Child Tax Credit. You will need to receive one of the other benefits.
Even though all infant aged children (in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) are entitled to receive a free school meal, regardless of income, (in line with the Government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals initiative) we strongly encourage all eligible parents to apply. Every application increases our school budget allocation and thus funds further support for your child’s progress.
If you think you may be eligible it is essential that you apply once your child reaches Year 3.
An application form is available for download below or available from the school office. All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.
